NB Health Research Foundation

Providing industry support for New Brunswick’s health research community.

About the Client

The New Brunswick Health Research Foundation is an independent organization with a mandate to coordinate, support, and promote health research in New Brunswick.

In 2020, the NBHRF commissioned a comprehensive report on the economic impact of its first ten years of operation in New Brunswick. The foundation wanted to produce a highly visual, single-page document to highlight the report’s key takeaways to stakeholders.

Crucially, the summary document needed to be available in both English and French.

Infographics

Since human resources is the main area to which health research funding is allocated, I sub-divided this category to show the specific numbers provided by the report.

To further emphasize the human impact of this spending, I expanded this section to illustrate the actual job creation numbers.

French Translation

I translated the relevant copy for the summary document to French, and deliberately designed a layout that would be compatible with both languages without looking odd in either.

Since the NBHRF provides its services in both French and English, having a bilingual document was essential for working with stakeholders.

Data Visualization

With the goal of creating a highly visual and intuitive document—in limited space—I charted the report data as full-width bars.

This page-based design facilitated comparison between the different impact evaluation criteria highlighted.

It also supported the conversion of the funding numbers provided by the original report into percentages for faster assessment and clearer understanding of the relevance of each data point.
